Be Prepared for your wedding Day Makeup Application.

Be prepared for your wedding day makeup application

Before you leave the house

  • Wash your face and apply your normal skincare: Make sure all of your left over makeup is removed. You want to start your makeup application with a clean makuep free face.

  • Think about bra and hair tie lines: If you are wearing a strapless dress put on a strapless bra that morning so that you don’t have bra strap lines when you put your wedding dress on. A lot of us grab a hair tie and put in on our wrist as we head out. Skip that today so that you don’t have any lines on your wrist.

  • Wear a button down shirt: This allows for a wardrobe change without imperfections to your makuep.

Before your makeup application

  • Brush your teeth: You don’t want to risk causing imperfections in your makeup by brushing your teeth after. If you are worried about your breath, have some breath mints on hand.

  • Assign your phone to someone: Your makeup application is great for you to have a little down time. While your are getting your makeup done, put someone else in charge of your phone and answering questions. You will want to remain still so that your makeup is flawless.

  • Put Jewelry on last: You don’t want your jewelry coated with makeup or hair spray. We suggest you put those beauties on after you get into your dress.

  • Don’t be last in the makeup schedule: It’s a great idea to plan on having your makeup done a few hours before you walk down the aisle. You will want your makeup application done before hair. Leave plenty of time to get dressed after your hair and makeup. You don’t want to be rushing through your big day.

After your makeup application

  • Crying: This is a high emotion day. If you cry, blot, don’t wipe. Blot those tears right away.

  • Blot out papers and lip touch up: Have some blot out papers to remove any excess oil or sweat. Just pat them on your face. Even if you have a longer lip product, keep a little with you, just in case.

  • Small purse or clutch: Bring a small purse or clutch with you to put in a few kleenex, blot out papers, and your lip touch up.

Things To Consider a Few Months before Your Wedding.

Things to consider a few months before your wedding.

Preparing for your wedding day makeup application involves a mix of planning and preparation. Here’s a step-by-step guide to ensure you look flawless on your big day:

1. Things to consider a few months before your wedding.

  • Don’t start anything new: This is not the time to start a new skincare line or facial products. Start your skincare routine at least a few months before the wedding. Regularly cleanse, exfoliate, and moisturize your skin to create a smooth canvas. We recommend trying a facial and dermaplaing a couple months before the wedding. A dermaplaning will remove the outer layer os dead skin cells and remove all of the vellus hair. If your skin does well with it get one the week of the wedding. It will leave your skin smooth, glowing, and provide a flawless makeup application.

  • Stay out of the Sun: A couple weeks before the wedding stay out of the sun so that you aren’t burnt or peeling on your wedding day (we have seen this). A few months before the wedding when you are in the sun think about tan lines. What kind of dress are you wearing and will these lines show?

  • Spray tan: If you are thinking of getting a spray tan think about trying one a couple months before the wedding. How does it look? Does it go well with your skin tone? Take some photos with it to see how it looks in photos.

  • Break in your shoes: Wear your shoes around the house once or twice a week. So many times I have heard girls say on the day of the wedding, “I need to break in my shoes.” You want to do this in the months before the wedding.

2. Consultation and Trial Run

  • Book a Trial: Schedule a makeup trial 3-12 months before the wedding. This allows you to experiment with different looks and find what suits you best.

  • Communicate Your Vision: Bring photos of makeup looks you like, and discuss your preferences with your makeup artist. Consider the style of your dress, venue, and overall theme of the wedding.

  • Test Products: If you have sensitive skin or allergies, test the products your makeup artist plans to use beforehand.

  • Take photos after your trial: This way you can see how it looks on camera. You will want to keep those photos for your makeup artist. She can use those photos to replicate your desired look.
