Summer Brides: Here’s why it’s important to stay out of the sun before your wedding.
As a bridal makeup artist, I absolutely love summer weddings—the golden light, the outdoor venues, and the relaxed, romantic vibes. But there’s one thing I always remind my summer brides about: avoid sun exposure at least two weeks before your big day.
It might be tempting to soak up the sun for that “just-back-from-vacation” glow, but when it comes to bridal beauty, your skin deserves a little extra care. Here’s why:
☀️ 1. Sunburn + Makeup = A Tough Combo
A sunburn not only causes redness and peeling, but it also makes applying makeup much more difficult. Burned or irritated skin doesn’t hold product well, and no bride wants to feel dry, flaky, or uncomfortable under her bridal glam. Airbrush or not—sunburned skin is tricky.
🧴 2. Uneven Tan Lines Can Distract From Your Dress
Strap marks, swimsuit lines, or uneven tanning can really show—especially in photos. Your wedding dress is likely a different cut from your usual summer wardrobe, and tan lines can be hard to cover with makeup, especially on shoulders and décolletage.
😬 3. Risk of Breakouts and Texture
Too much sun can lead to clogged pores, heat rash, and even breakouts—especially in humid weather. The smoother and healthier your skin, the better your makeup will apply and last throughout your wedding day.
🧖♀️ 4. Pre-Wedding Treatments + Sun Don’t Mix
If you're planning on getting facials, chemical peels, or waxing in the weeks leading up to your wedding (which many brides do), sun exposure can make your skin more sensitive and prone to damage. Combine that with UV rays and you might end up with irritation or even hyperpigmentation.
👰♀️ What Should You Do Instead?
Wear SPF daily, even on cloudy days.
Avoid tanning beds and limit direct sun exposure—especially between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Opt for a spray tan or professional self-tanner if you’re looking for a sun-kissed glow (but always do a trial first!).
Stay hydrated and nourish your skin with a good skincare routine in the weeks before your big day.
The Goal: Radiant, Healthy Skin
Glowing bridal skin doesn’t come from the sun—it comes from taking care of yourself. By keeping your skin calm, hydrated, and protected, you’ll ensure your makeup applies beautifully and lasts all day.
I always tell my brides: healthy skin is the best canvas. And when your skin looks and feels its best, you’ll shine from the inside out.
Airbrush Makeup
Airbrush makeup is applied using a small air compressor and airbrush gun that gently sprays a fine mist of foundation onto the skin. The result? A smooth, even, and lightweight layer of makeup that looks like your skin—but better.
💍 Why Brides Love It
1. Flawless Finish
Airbrush makeup gives a seamless, soft-focus finish that photographs beautifully. It’s designed to even out skin tone, blur imperfections, and create a radiant, camera-ready glow.
2. Long-Lasting Wear
Your wedding day is a marathon, not a sprint! From morning prep to dancing the night away, airbrush makeup is known for its staying power. It's sweat-resistant, tear-resistant, and won’t budge—even during emotional vows or a packed dance floor.
3. Lightweight Feel
Despite its durability, airbrush makeup feels incredibly light on the skin. It allows your natural beauty to shine through without feeling heavy or cakey.
4. Custom Coverage
Whether you want a sheer, natural look or fuller coverage, airbrush foundation can be layered to suit your preference while still looking natural and breathable.
5. Great for All Skin Types
From oily to dry skin, airbrush formulas work beautifully across different skin types—and they’re often a great option for sensitive skin due to their hygienic, touch-free application.
